On May 26-27 this year, within the framework of the International Forum on Poverty Reduction held in Bukhara in Uzbekistan, a panel session was held in a hybrid format on the topic “Pooling efforts and developing collaborative approaches toward poverty reduction in the SCO space”. This session is organized within the framework of cooperation between Uzbekistan and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization with the participation of ministries and departments of observer countries and SCO member states.
The panel session was attended by Minister of Poverty Reduction and Social Security of Pakistan Shazia Marri, First Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Protection of the Russian Federation Olga Batalina, Researcher at Indian Research and Information Systems for Developing Countries Pramond Anand (online), First Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Trade of the Republic of Tajikistan Ashurboy Solehzoda, Deputy General Director of the International Center for Poverty Reduction in China Li Xin (online), Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Poverty Reduction of the Republic of Uzbekistan Mirzokhid Ubaydullaev, Deputy Minister of Labor, Social Security and Migration of the Kyrgyz Republic Nurdulot Bazarbaev (online), Director Department of Labor Statistics and Living Standards of the State Statistics Committee of the Republic of Kazakhstan Natalya Belonosova, Deputy Minister of Economy of the Republic of Belarus Tatyana Brunsevich (online) with reports and as a moderator Director of the Center for Public Diplomacy SCO Kobiljon Sobirov.
During the panel session, participants discussed methods for measuring poverty, new approaches and mechanisms, social security applications, household surveys, measurements towards targeted poverty reduction, exchange of experiences and best practices, including issues of gender equality, e-commerce, the environment and climate change.
The participants of the event also exchanged views on the work carried out within the framework of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization to reduce poverty through sustainable economic and inclusive growth, development of entrepreneurship and human capital development, as well as mutual cooperation.
