The meeting of the Ministers of Industry of the SCO member states and the VIII meeting of the Council for Industrial Policy of the CIS member states were held in Tashkent

On July 15, 2022, the VIII meeting of the Council for Industrial Policy of the CIS member states and the meeting of the Ministers of Industry of the SCO member states were held in Tashkent under the chairmanship of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
The events were attended by Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Economic Development and Poverty Reduction of the Republic of Uzbekistan Jamshid Kuchkarov, Minister of Heavy Industry of India Mahendra Nath Pandey, Deputy Minister of Industry and Infrastructure Development of Kazakhstan Marat Karabayev, Minister of Economy and Commerce of Kyrgyzstan Daniyar Amangeldiev, Minister of Industry and Production of Pakistan Syed Murtaza Mahmud, Minister of Industry and New Technologies of Tajikistan Sherali Kabirov, First Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Poverty Reduction of the Republic of Uzbekistan Saidkahkhor Kholkhujaev Deputy Minister of Industry of Belarus Dimitri Kharitonchik, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Russia Alexey Gruzdev, Deputy Minister of Industry and Information Technology of China Zhangping Wang, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of China Yuxiang Ma (both in online format), Deputy Secretary General of the SCO Suhael Khan (video message) and Deputy Chairman of the CIS Executive Committee Ilkhom Nematov.
The agenda of the events included issues on further activation and enhancement of cooperation between the CIS and SCO member states in the interests of industrial development, ensuring sustainable growth of industrial production on the basis of cooperation, implementation of joint investment projects, introduction of new technologies, attraction of material and financial resources, increasing labor productivity and diversification of industrial products.
Also, the heads of the CIS and SCO delegations exchanged views on topical issues of further cooperation in the field of industry, taking into account the geopolitical situation in the world and possible joint measures to respond to emerging problems.
During the meetings, drafts of a number of important documents were considered, including:
- draft Program of conceptual directions for the development of industrial cooperation between the CIS member states;
- draft Program for Stimulating industrial cooperation between the business circles of the SCO member states;
- Draft Regulations on the organization of congress and exhibition events, in particular under the auspices of the Meeting of Ministers of Industry of the SCO member States;
- draft Regulations on the creation of a "Data Bank of investment projects in the industry of the SCO member states";
- draft Concepts of cooperation of the CIS member states in the energy sector until 2035 and a Plan of priority measures for its implementation.
In addition, the participants visited facilities demonstrating the existing industrial potential and cooperative practice of Uzbekistan, and got acquainted with the production processes.
Following the meetings, the participants decided to continue mutual cooperation in the field of industry.
